To enable the service to function properly, and give us enough information to assess whether you are genuine scientist who wants to access other research groups data for the right reasons, we require a small amount of personal information including your name, email address, where you work and also a link to a personal page. If you do not supply current details or we suspect you of not being genuine you will be ejected from the system. Importantly, you must supply a personal link to a research profile otherwise your application will be rejected as we cannot provide the enough information to the data owner.
How is this data used?
The personal information will be provided to any data owner if you request their data. Therefore by accepting the terms and conditions of the service you are consenting to your personal data being shared with other members of the LIMNADES group. Your personal data will not be used in any other way other than general aggregated statistics of user information which will be anonymised.
Citing LIMNADES
This project has taken considerable time to develop it would be appreciated if you do use this service and publications are made from it please cite LIMNADES directly.
Contacting you
We will only contact you using your email address regarding any data requests and if there are major changes to the system that require some action on your part.
Abuse of the system
LIMNADES is a sharing platform the soul purpose of which is to promote collaboration, if there is any suspelcted bullying or threatening behaviour through this system we will immediately delete you off the system and legal action will be pursued if we deem the incident is serious enough. To prevent abuse of the system a request limit per month is operated please respect this limit - this is to discourage nuisance requests. if you exceed this limit you will not be able to make any more requests within the specified time frame. Please do not create multiple accounts or act in combination with other users to maximise data requests. We see this as trying to cheat the system and if we suspect that you or others within your work group are doing this, we will delete you and not allow you to use the system.
Respect towards the data owner
Although some of the data contained within the LIMNADES database is open source, which you can freely download, a significant proportion of the data is request only and requires direct contact with the data owner. To stop nuisance requests we encourage you to make a single request to a single data owner once. By all means, within this first data request you can ask for personal contact within the message section, then if permission is given you can proceed outside of the LIMNADES framework. Remember the power always lies in the data owner's hands, if they do not want to share their data with, you must respect this decision and source data from elsewhere. If you reported by the data owner making multiple requests you will be warned and if you do not comply, we reserve the right to delete you from the system.
